First Church invests in the future of children and families by nurturing their spiritual growth through education, service, worship and fellowship opportunities. We affirm the family as a primary vehicle for sharing faith in God, and strive to provide families with resources that enable them to develop and practice their faith.

Message from Pastor Elbert
The holiday season is quickly upon us. As we begin the month of November, we are reminded of all the grace and gifts we have received from God.
Even in life’s struggles, there is so much to be thankful for, especially for our children and our teachers. Our children are a source of joy even after a long days work. Who can resist smiling when you engage their inquisitive curiosity and innocent outlook on life?
I also give thanks to our teachers who each week devote so much of themselves to not only teaching our children but caring for them as if their own.
I am excited for this coming holiday season as a time to truly reflect upon the blessings God has bestowed on us all. We begin our Thanksgiving celebration by traditionally collecting food for the less fortunate. As usual, we will be entering the Sanctuary worship service on Thanksgiving Sunday to place our gifts on the altar.
After the Thanksgiving holiday, we will be beginning our Advent season with a special Saturday morning event -- Morning in Bethlehem. It will be a wonderful gathering taking us back to the day of Jesus’ birth. We hope that after recovering from the turkey tryptophan and the craze of Black Friday shopping, families will escape to Bethlehem to prepare ourselves for the Advent season.
Christmas is such an important part of our faith and we need to take time to teach our children and prepare ourselves to fully engage the Spirit of receiving God’s most precious gift -- Jesus Christ. May this holiday season be full of God’s blessing to you and all our families.
Grace and Peace to you all!
Pastor Elbert Kim
