A mission team of 18 participants including two from First Church (Marjory Clyne and Ray Henderson) will travel to Baton Rouge September 22-29 to work on homes damaged by the 2016 floods. We ask for prayers for the team members and also monetary donations to support the team.
Message from South District Louisiana Flood Recovery Mission Team
We are going to Baton Rouge to work on homes damaged by a 500-year flood and 1000-year flood both in 2016. We have 18 people from six different Cal-Pac churches and one Desert Southwest church serving on the team this time. All but four of them are from five different churches in our district. Over half are repeat South District team members, but eight are new to a South District Mission Team with five of those being first-time ever mission team members.
After receiving the $200 deposits from the team members, we have needed to raise approximately $465 per team member to cover all of their travel and living expenses while they work 40 hours on rebuilding homes damaged in the superstorm. We have been busy raising funds through requests to UMW units and Outreach and Missions Committees, but can use a few more donations.
