Mentoring Program

“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord…..Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Rom 12:10-13

What is the Mentoring Ministry Program?
Established by the First Church’s Task Force on Poverty and Welfare in 1998, this program connects mentors with participating families or young people.

Groups that we partner with are:

SPIN
(Supportive Parents Information Network)

Mentor families, generally headed by a single parent, who are making a transition from welfare to work. (www.spinsandiego.org)
 

Jewish Family Service
Mentoring Mothers Program.

Mentor a teen mom by offering support, friendship and building confidence to finish school. (www.jfssd.org)
 

Lost Boys of Sudan

Help with their education, medical expenses and urgent needs as well as provide tutoring and friendship. (www.lostboysofsudan.com)
