| We continue to be in
partnership with the Slidell First United Methodist Church, in
Slidell, Louisiana, following the destruction that their church and
community experienced during Hurricane Katrina at the end of August.
Their church hopes to be back in their
sanctuary for worship on Christmas Eve, thanks to the generous help of
many people and congregations around the country. Since the hurricane,
they have been sharing in worship on Sunday evenings at the Aldersgate
UMC, in another part of the town.
The community is still in the midst of
what will be a very long road to recovery, and you are invited to pray
for them--for those who are grieving, for those who are hard at work
rebuilding, and for those who have had to choose to live elsewhere.
Please pray for leaders in the community and church, and for hope during
this holiday season. You are invited to pray for emotional and mental
well-being of everyone, and especially for the health of marriages
strained by the stress of this disaster.
