The Singles Ministry at First United Methodist Church provides Biblical teaching, opportunities for Christian service, recreation and fellowship that enable a deeper commitment to Christ, while building meaningful friendships in a nurturing environment.

SINGLES NEWS:
A weekly digest of events for single adults.

Friday Night Singles (40s and up) meets every Friday (unless otherwise noted) at 6:00 p.m. in Linder Hall for a meal followed by various activities. On the first Friday of the month we view a movie followed by a discussion. On the second and fourth Fridays of the month we have game nights (bring your favorite game or ideas). We also have our own Ping Pong table for tournaments. On the third Friday of the month we have a great guest speaker or special event. Cost is $6. Walk-ins are welcome. Child care will be provided if it is reserved by noon Thursday.

1st Friday: August 6, Movie Night.We will view the film East of Eden based on the novel by John Steinbeck with James Dean, Raymond Massey and Julie Harrisl. Meal: Smokin' Joe's BBQ with all the fixin's.

2nd Friday: August 13, Game Nigh--bridge, Scrabble, Monopoly, Ping-Pong. Meal: Pat & Oscar's pizza, salad and dessert.

3rd Friday: August 20, video and discussion with the excellent Bible teacher R. C. Sproul, "The Majesty of Christ, Part 2." Potluck dinner. Please call Barbara, 858-279-6218 for suggestions.

4th Friday: August 27, Game Night--bridge, Scrabble, Monopoly, Ping-Pong. Join us for a relaxing, cool evening (AC) of fellowship and fun. Meal: Chinese take-out.

Summer Pops Concert: Saturday, September 4, 7:30 p.m. Join us to hear Mozart and 1812 Tchaikovsky Spectacular with howitzers and fireworks. Concert ticket cost is $17 with a $5 ticket processing fee. Come at 6:30 p.m. for a preconcert dinner. Either bring your own picnic or buy food there.Seating is on the lawn--bring your own chairs.

Labor Day Potluck: Monday, September 6, hosted by Dave Newceral, 51 Delaport Place, Coronado, 619-429-5644. Arrive around 11:00 a.m., lunch at 12:00 noon. Hotdogs, buns and beverages provided. Please RSVP so we have enough at kmaczka@dslextreme.com or 619.263.3743. Please bring a dish to share for 8, a lounge chair if you plan to go to the beach, your bathing suit for swimming in the pool, and perhaps your favorite game.
