Rev. Trudy has been in the ministry for over 25 years, serving in congregations in Westminster, Loveland, and Littleton, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming prior to coming to San Diego, California. As an ordained United Methodist elder, she brings a message of grace, hope, and love, an orientation of openness toward all kinds of diversity, and an invitation to John Wesley’s faith that believed, “There is no holiness apart from social holiness.

Rev. Trudy has been the Lead Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of San Diego since January 2020. Yep, she arrived just a few weeks prior to the pandemic shutting everything down. Yet, neither she, nor the church leadership, waited for things to get back to normal. Rather, we took our cues from what was happening around us and envisioned a new kind of church for a new era in the 21st century: a church that provides options for inspiration, flexibility for busy schedules, and opportunities for you to be involved in making the world a better place, no matter where you live.

When she is not at the church, she can be found snuggling her pets, listening to music, or FaceTiming her grandchildren. She’s happiest when she has a date to visit them on her calendar.
