2025 Confirmation Class (Grades 7-12)
Spiritual Growth Youth Family Students
Calling all youth in grades 7-12! Come learn about Methodism, explore your faith, and become a member of First Church.
Classes take place Feb. 2, Mar. 16, Apr. 6, and May 4 from 12 to 1:30 PM in Linder 3.
There is also a field trip scheduled for April 26 from 1:30 - 3 PM at The Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Confirmation service will be on May 18 at 9 AM.

February 2: Why Confirmation?
Introduction to confirmation, getting to know the cohort, distributing assignments, etc. Please come prepared to share what you know about your baptism and a Bible story you like or relate to.
March 16: The Old Stuff
What’s that book about? (The Bible)
How did the Church get started? (Early Christian history)
April 6: Along the Way
Who are we? (Christian history continued, the Reformation)
Who is this guy, John Wesley?
What about him and his time? (Methodism, concept of grace, etc.)
April 26 (Saturday, 1:30-3:00PM): Field Trip

May 4: Today’s Experience & Worship Planning for Confirmation Sunday
What does God do in our lives? (Recognizing God in our faith journey)
How can we make sense of the ancient stories in today’s world? (Wesleyan Quadrilateral: Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience)
Why church on Sundays? (Ecclesiology and the United Methodist connectionalism)
Worship preparation: Write liturgies, choose hymns/songs, sacred texts, message/sermonettes
