Welcome to our new Director of Communications: Meghan Claussen!
Meghan brings more than 17 years of strategic communications and marketing experience to First Church. She has a special love for brand storytelling – capturing the heart of an organization and amplifying that message to the public. And she enjoys the fast-paced, ever-changing world of digital marketing.
Meghan joins us from Axos Bank, where she’s served as writer, editor, and content strategist for various product lines and departments – consumer mortgages, investments, mobile banking, employee engagement, talent acquisition, and more. Before Axos, she worked for an array of banking, financial services, and fintech organizations. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Cal Poly SLO, majoring in journalism and public relations, with a minor in international relations.
Born and raised in Oregon, Meghan grew up in the UMC Oregon-Idaho Conference where she was involved in district youth and camping ministries. She now lives in Poway with her husband Carl and daughter Elsa and is a member of Hope UMC.
Meghan is excited to apply her love of communications to propel First Church’s mission and share God’s love with our community. Meghan's first day at the office is November 13. Welcome her!
